Hot Creek Geological Site
At the suggestion of a helpful staffer at Mammoth Lakes NF Visitor Center, I made a short detour to visit this hot creek. It turned out to be an interesting stop. Although not a popular tourist spot (at least during that day), the trail from the parking area led down to the steaming creek area. The most active steaming area was fenced off. But further down the trail, sections were left open along the creek. Early morning sun reflect against the canyon walls offered good indirect light on the creek itself. There were no fall colors in this area however.
