June Lake Loop (10/13/2005)It was mid morning by the time I arrived at June Lake Loop after the
morning photoshoot at Mono Lake and an unsucessful trip to Parker Lake.
The sun was already fairly high. I found the drive to be scenic, and perhaps
more majestic than the drive to Lundy Canyon. However, it was similar
for the most part. I did not find myself as excited as the previous day,
being already saturated with the yellow and gold foliage. Following are
the main things that stood out for me. The creek, Rush Creek I believe, was quite cold that morning. While most
people were drawn to the colorful foliage on the side of the mountain,
I went the reverse direction to the creek since I saw the still yellow
aspen in the sunlight against the backdrop of a shady mountain. However,
as I got to the creek, I found the mist coming up from the stream as the
sun began to warm the creek water. In addition, the grass lining the creek
was still covered by frost. This was one exciting moment for me.
